Food & Drink
As already indicated our attempt last year to change this area of our business did not really work and we are operating almost as we have always done! It appears to be what our guests want! We are, we have to say, concentrating more on our resident guests.
Resident Guests: you are, of course, free to dine out in town and need not dine with us. We do ask, however, that you do let us know ahead of time should you wish to dine.
We can no longer serve non-residents.
Call Dave or Jo on 01688 302030.
Evening opening will be 7.00pm to 8-30pm.
One of our concerns in attempting to change was the apparent unpopularity of the term “Fine-dining” – a term we now try to play down in that the image may well be of a rather stuffy, formal environment – unsuitable for those wishing to relax and enjoy themselves on holiday.
Having said that, we do believe that dining at Highland Cottage is both relaxed and informal – fun even – whilst being professional at the same time. Dress code is quite relaxed – within reason! – and your table is yours for the duration. We do not give you a time when you should leave!
SOMETHING TO WASH IT ALL DOWN?
Highland Cottage is fully licensed with a fully-stocked bar and sensible wine-list. In addition, the “Honesty” bar in the first-floor lounge is available to residents 24 hrs a day on a self-service basis. Residents may also order drinks throughout the day.
Whilst we are conscious that breakfast is often the most important meal of the day, we are also aware that “Breakfast is Breakfast” and that there is only so much that can be done to make it “different”.
At Highland Cottage, we aim to serve a well-cooked, hearty breakfast for those who wish it and tempting lighter items for those who don’t. We are also somewhat mindful of the fact that a “proper” breakfast is something we only have on holiday and not when we are rushing out to catch the 7.28, or whatever!

EATING OUT IN TOBERMORY
TOBERMORY offers a wide selection of “eateries” both in, and close to, the town. Whist it is difficult to give a definitive assessment of any of them – and not our place – we will be happy to discuss and give what advice we can on any of these at any time, when asked.
Please browse our suggestions in the attached PDF for eating out in Tobermory.
